History

William Weir, CLU founded WFR in 1965, working primarily with medical practices and other professional service organizations. Bill's focus on executive benefits planning began in the mid-1980s, when a friend and CEO at one of Buffalo's prominent public companies asked for help installing a deferred compensation plan.

His natural curiosity and acumen led Bill and his staff to develop a unique and accomplished practice specializing in executive benefits, including deferred compensation, supplemental executive retirement plans (SERP), split dollar, executive bonus, as well as supplemental executive individual disability insurance programs.

Joining the firm in 1994, Bill's son Jonathan Weir, JD*, built on this foundation. He expanded the service and product offerings through national planning and product partners, as well as fee for service offerings. Jon also spearheaded WFR's move into benefit planning and surplus enhancement for financial institutions.

With relationships made through Cadaret Grant - Atria, Lion Street and beyond, WFR is looking forward to provide clients and prospective clients even greater information, ideas and solutions.
